A failed relay can stop a compressor from starting. If you need a Tecumseh compressor relay, the Tecumseh Compressor Relay RP5418 (8665455) is the one to ask about.

A compressor relay is used in the starting circuit of a single-phase compressor motor: it brings the start components into the circuit while the motor starts and takes them out once the motor is running.

Key details: Brand: Tecumseh. Type: compressor relay. Part code: RP5418. Also listed as: 8665455.

Before you order: four quick checks

• Match the part code: compare RP5418 (also listed as 8665455) with the code printed on your old relay.
• Check the compressor: the right relay depends on the compressor model, so send us the model from the compressor nameplate and we will confirm the match.
• Check the fit: the terminals, the shape and the mounting position must match your old relay; some relays must be fitted the right way up.
• Switch off and isolate the power before replacing a relay, and safely discharge the start capacitor if the circuit has one. A wrong relay can stop the compressor from starting. Send a photo of the old relay on WhatsApp and we confirm the match.
